Participant Code of Conduct

Group Rules

1. I will show up to class on time with my camera on so the instructor can validate my presence. 
2. I will keep my camera on during the duration of the class session. 
3. I will implement confidentiality: what’s said here, stays here. 
4. I will ensure privacy: no one is ever required to answer any questions, if I am uncomfortable, I understand that I have the right to pass or to speak about something else. I agree to not pressure others to participate if the other person has chosen to pass. I understand that I will benefit more if I’m able to take risks in sharing and participating.  Everyone has the opportunity to share. I have the right to speak and the right to stay silent. 
5. We share feelings and experiences using “I” statements, avoiding the urge to give advice. No one here is humiliated or abused in any way. I accept people just as they are now. 
6. I will not gossip. I agree that if I have something to say to another group member, I will communicate directly with the group member instead of speaking behind his/her back. 
7. I will practice regular attendance: I agree that I will attend every class unless an emergency arises. If so, I will notify the group leader.
8. I am aware that I’m allowed to miss one class during this course, and that I can make up the class by watching the recording, taking and returning a quiz and evaluation.  
9. I am aware that after each class session, I complete an evaluation. Once my evaluation is submitted, I will receive my CE certificate for that session.

Sharing Rules – In small groups

•  I will practice confidentiality. 
• I will allow the small group partner to speak without interrupting them.
• I know I may provide only nonverbal cues, otherwise, I will remain verbally silent.
• I will practice “not fixing,” and “non-rescuing”.
• I will practice using “I” statements.
• I know that when the time is up, the instructor will send a notification that will appear at the top of my screen.
• If I’m the person speaking, I will pause and move into silence, even if I’m mid-sentence.
• I will thank the person speaking and we will switch speakers.
